Hardneck Garlic bulbs are best when planted in the fall, between September and October, once the night time temperature is consistently between 40-50 degree Fahrenheit. This gives the bulbs a chance to root before the frost comes.
Separate the cloves, and plant with the point facing upwards. (You can leave the papery skin on the clove)
Plant 4"-6" apart, and 2"-3" deep.
Once you've planted your garlic, you can cover with 4" of straw , mulch, or leaf debris to
further insulate and retain moisture.
