Landscape Team

Job Summary:

The Landscape Worker will perform landscaping and related services required to maintain safe and attractive grounds.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Uses a variety of tools such as shovels, rakes, or wheelbarrows to complete assignments.
  • Operates power equipment such as sod stripper, bed edger, rototiller, compactor, and a variety of other power hand tools.
  • Installs plant material, mulch, and rock and boulders.
  • Installs and maintains specialty features such as paver patios or retaining walls
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Basic understanding of groundskeeping and landscaping practices and procedures.
  • Ability to work efficiently and thoroughly.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Thorough understanding of how to care for various types of plants and hardscapes.

Outdoor Greenhouse Sales Associate

Job Summary:

The Outdoor Greenhouse Sales Associate at Baker Garden & Gift will assist customers in purchasing merchandise while working with and caring for plant material. This role combines plant expertise and customer service to provide shoppers with an exceptional greenhouse experience! The Associate informs customers about proper care of plants, recommends products based on the consumer’s needs and preferences, and ensures merchandise is handled appropriately within the greenhouse. 

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Greeting and interacting with customers.
  • Consults with customers to understand their needs and preferences related to merchandise.
  • Watering, pruning, and general care of plant material. 
  • Actively sells plant material and garden center supplies.
  • Answers customer’s questions about merchandise.
  • Assists customers with purchase decisions.
  • Unloads shipments and restocks plant material. 
  • Training on diagnostic questions and products.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Outdoor Shift Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Outdoor Shift Supervisor will oversee personnel and direct daily activities, receive and display merchandise, maintain great customer service, and be a store key holder.

 

Supervisor Responsibilities

  • Training personnel as needed watering, restocking, product, and pricelist
  • General practice of processes and procedures as they apply to their department.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Assigns jobs and projects to staff to ensure that deadlines are met safely and accurately.
  • Enforcing the company’s policies and procedures to maintain store standards.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates the receipt and verification of incoming shipments; ensure merchandise is unloaded, verified, tagged, displayed, and stored according to policy.
  • Conducts regular inventory checks of store supplies and communicates results of inventory reviews to manager.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of entire outdoor sales area; does daily walk throughs for items that are out of place, a cause for safety concern, and other items that would interfere with shopping experience standards.
  • Handles and corrects any customer concerns.
  • Responsible for store opening and closing procedures.
  • Ensures that daily, weekly, and monthly tasks are completed in a timely fashion, coordinates full participation including themselves.
  • Creates visual displays with new and existing merchandise.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Plan and facilitate customer workshops to drive growth and profitability of the company.
  • Work assignments may fluctuate with season changes. Employees must be willing and able to perform a variety of tasks and assist in all departments of Baker Nursery as needed.

Indoor Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Indoor Supervisor plays a key leadership role within the indoor retail team at Baker Garden & Gift. This position supports the daily operations of the store and garden center with a strong focus on delivering exceptional customer experience. Responsibilities include overseeing receiving and inventory processes, maintaining merchandising standards, and providing coaching and support to retail staff. In addition to supervisory duties, this role manages vendor communication, purchasing for defined product lines, supply oversight, and warehouse organization. Reporting to the Indoor Manager, the Indoor Supervisor helps create a welcoming and engaging shopping environment that reflects the quality and care Baker Garden & Gift is known for.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Train and mentor Indoor Associates, providing coaching and feedback to enhance team performance.
  • Ensure high standards of customer service, leading by example and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Maintain an environment that is solution-based and addresses customer problems and concerns in a way that encourages them to return and meet Baker standards.
  • Assist in maintaining an ongoing training program to develop and instruct indoor staff regarding sales, safety, and performance.
  • Oversee store operations, including workflow management, delegation of tasks, and maintaining adherence to company policies.
  • Identify and convey recognition efforts, both directly to team members in real time, and with reporting back to management with exceptional instances.

  • Lead by example in providing exceptional customer service and creating a welcome in-store experience.

  • Experience in retail, customer service, or team leadership preferred.
  • Previous experience in horticulture, container design, or visual merchandising preferred.

Indoor Sales Associate

Job Summary:

The Indoor Sales Specialist at Baker Garden & Gift plays a vital role in creating a welcoming and engaging shopping experience for customers in our vibrant, plant-filled retail environment. This position combines plant knowledge, customer service, and retail expertise to assist customers with purchases, answer product and event-related questions, and maintain attractive merchandise displays. The Specialist ensures the health of plant material, supports store operations, and contributes to a collaborative and upbeat team atmosphere.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Greet and engage with customers as they enter the store.
  • Consult with customers to understand their needs and preferences related to merchandise and plant care.
  • Assist customers in making informed purchasing decisions.

Landscape Foreman

Job Summary:

The Landscape Foreman is responsible for leading a crew and managing daily landscaping operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality results. This role oversees residential and commercial projects, coordinates team activities, and ensures client satisfaction while maintaining company standards.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Ability to lead a crew(s) at multiple residential and commercial locations.
  • Train and mentor team members on proper techniques, safety practices, and equipment use.
  • Oversees day-to-day operations of the landscaping department.
  • Schedule work, assign tasks, and monitor progress to meet deadlines and quality standards

 

Duties/Responsibilities:
