Landscape Intern

Job Summary:

Baker Landscaping, an established landscape business within the Fargo-Moorhead area, is seeking a Landscape Intern. This position will work closely with our Landscape Manager and Project Manager to implement our client’s vision. Gain landscape experience plus knowledge in plant varieties and how the nursery/retail environment operates.

Duties/Responsibilities:

•    Partner with Landscape designer to make initial prospect contacts, follows up to determine interest, provides general information and set up appointments as appropriate.
•    Inspects the site of the proposed work, reviews customer ideas and design alternatives, and reviews budget considerations.
•    Keep customers updated on project timelines.
•    Analyze natural and manmade elements of the area including soil, slope, drainage and natural vegetation, lighting, and other construction projects.
•    Develops proposed designs with complete scale drawings.
•    Calling locates for utilities prior to start of project.
•    Utilize computer systems to complete accurate quotes and invoices to mail to customers.
•    Partner with Landscape manager to ensure department costs are in line with budget.
•    Meet with Landscape foreman to review design for installation.
•    Support Landscape team with pulling plants for jobs and transferring plants from farm location.
•    Follow up with customer to ensure satisfaction; and foreman to ensure product completion.
•    Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
•    Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and projects simultaneously.
•    Strong customer service skills.
•    Can work independently or with a team.
•    Ability to respond well to feedback.

Education and Experience:

•    Experience working as part of a Landscape team a plus.
•    Currently working towards a degree in Landscape design or Architecture.

Physical Requirements: 

·    Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at a time.  
·    Must be comfortable working in an office or on-site.

Greenhouse Production Assistant

Job Summary:

The Greenhouse Production Assistant position will work alongside the greenhouse manager at our farm location. If you enjoy a flexible environment with the opportunity to work outside, this is a great role for you. This position will help complete all tasks at the farm location greenhouse to grow quality plants effectively and efficiently for customers.

Duties/Responsibilities:

· Plant and transplant seeds, seedlings, and clippings

· Process plant shipments in a timely manner

· Organize product on benches so all plant material is able to be cared for properly

· Responsible for keeping houses groomed, spaced, watered, sprayed and fertilized

· Inspection of all plants periodically for diseases, weeds, and insect pests.

· Works along an assembly line as part of a cohesive team.

· Keeps a fast pace of production and planting

· Exhibit flexibility to changes in weather

· Develop a thorough knowledge of plants and effective plant care

· Performs other related duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Good verbal communication skills.

· Basic knowledge of greenhouse systems and operations.

· Basic knowledge of plant, soil, and insect disease.

· Ability to work efficiently and thoroughly.

· Ability to work as a team member.

· Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments.

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and bending.

· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
