Job Summary:

At Baker Garden & Gift, Retail Gift Store Associates welcome customers into our upbeat, plant-filled store. This role creates a positive customer experience by assisting in purchases, answering product and store-event related questions, and updating and maintaining merchandise displays. The Associate values organization and provides excellent customer service while enjoying an environment of collaboration, fun, and beautiful plants.

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Welcomes and engages with customers as they enter the store. 
  • Assists customers in making purchasing decisions.  
  • Answers questions related to store products and store events. 
  • Unloads shipments, tags inventory, and restocks products.  
  • Operates registers and processing cash and card payments.  
  • Collects payments using the store point of sale system.  
  • Processes returns and exchanges.  
  • Maintains neat storefront by tidying and cleaning as needed. 

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills.

Garden Center Sales Associate

Job Summary:

This position will interact with customers and recommend products based on the consumer's needs and preferences. As a Retail Garden Sales Associate, you will be able to utilize your plant expertise to help maintain product and provide advice for the care of various plants.

  • Actively sells plant material and garden center supplies.
  • Answers customer’s questions about merchandise.

The Outdoor Greenhouse Sales Associate at Baker Garden & Gift will assist customers in purchasing merchandise while working with and caring for plant material. This role combines plant expertise and customer service to provide shoppers with an exceptional greenhouse experience! The Associate informs customers about proper care of plants, recommends products based on the consumer’s needs and preferences, and ensures merchandise is handled appropriately within the greenhouse.

Landscape Foreman

Job Summary:

The Landscape Foreman will oversee personnel and daily activities and perform landscaping and related services required to create and maintain safe and attractive grounds.  


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Ability to lead crews at multiple residential and commercial locations. 
  • Trains landscape department workers.  
  • Oversees day-to-day operations of the landscaping department. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Uses a variety of tools such as shovels, rakes, or wheelbarrows to complete assignments. 
  • Operates power equipment such as sod stripper, bed edger, rototiller, compactor and a variety of other power hand tools.  
  • Installs and maintains specialty features such as paver patios and retaining walls. 
  • Educates and consults with clients regarding plant selection, care, and costs of additional services and maintenance. 
  • Reads plans to execute the install of landscape designs.  
  • Must have a positive, teamwork-focused attitude and uphold professional standards while on the jobsite.

Job Summary:
The Landscape Worker will perform landscaping and related services required to maintain safe and attractive grounds.

  • Operate power equipment such as sod stripper, bed edger, rototiller, compactor, and a variety of other power hand tools.

Greenhouse Management

Job Summary: 

Greenhouse Manager has a passion for producing high quality horticulture products that are produced for retail sales or wholesale. The Greenhouse Manager is responsible for the daily operations involved with running our offsite farm location greenhouses.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervise employees to make sure they are fulfilling their job requirements for each shift; specifically watering techniques; delegating assignments; and time management. 
  • Coach and provide feedback to grow and develop the team. 
  • Be responsible for the safety, performance, discipline, and well-being of employees working at the Farm location. 
  • Responsible for facilities maintenance and cleanliness of Farm location. 
  • Create a fun and engaging environment where the team feels recognized and communicated with. 
  • Enforce the company’s policies and procedures. 
Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate the production of annuals, herbs, edibles, tropical plants, perennials, tress, fruits, and shrubs.
  • Order plant material, seeds, growing media, containers, fertilizers, tags, and other plant production related supplies.
  • Create planting/seeding schedule and arrange plant shipments according to schedule and seasonal sale deadlines.
  • Prepares space required for planned production.
  • Apply pesticides when needed – certified applicator license required (will pay for licensing).
  • Calibrate injector and greenhouse heating/cooling systems.
  • Assists in development of growing procedures for new species in product lines. Continued expansion of houseplant production.
  • Maintains records of growing techniques and production to be used for review to identify trends and to forecast future space needs.
  • Collaborate with retail store, production, landscaping & wholesale staff on projects and needs.
  • General greenhouse and grounds maintenance.

  • Experience with power equipment and vehicles is a plus, on-the-job training is offered.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to work in conditions typically found in a greenhouse with high humidity and varying temperatures, with a fair amount of moisture present.
  • Ability to exert up to 15-50 pounds occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently and 10 pounds of force constantly to lift and more product.
  • Ability to be on feet while performing job responsibilities.
