Events and Workshops

Welcome back for year three of bonsai club! Baker hosts North Dakota's only bonsai club. Anyone with a curiosity of the art is welcome to join for free to listen and engage with other members. We ask you register to allow us to prepare for guests. Not only will you get a new plant potted up, you also leave with cultural, historical, and care information. We discuss the origins of the ancient art, traditional practices, and modern applications. Our club is focused around tropical species to be kept as indoor bonsai.

Included in the paid ticket is 1 6” bonsai pot of preferred style and color, 1 bonsai plant, wire materials, and bonsai soil.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Come play with Baker-grown blooms at our Floral Design class. We will be using Zinnias and other plants grown from seed specifically to help you practice this fun hobby. Any gardener or lover of flowers should have a foundational knowledge of how to make blooms look their best. These floral design classes are a treat exclusive to summer. We are delighted to offer this exclusive knowledge to anyone with an appreciation for beauty.

Step-by-step we will build up a miniature plant paradise from dirt to watering. Kids will learn how to care for something they create. A parent or guardian is encouraged to work with their child to create their masterpiece! 

1 ticket = 1 pot . If you would like to make a garden as well please buy a second ticket.

6" Full garden ticket includes: 1 fairy friend, 2 small pots, 1 8" terracotta pot, 3 terrarium plants, 1 cutting, planting materials, moss and rocks.

This project is an absolute must for anyone who would say they are “arts and crafty”. Choose from our rainbow selection of succulents, grow all summer just for you! Add some dried moss, baby’s breath flowers, and itsy-bitsy alder tree cones collected from our property to make the arrangement full and beautiful. Feel free to add any materials you may have foraged to let your creativity roam! This is one of our favorite fall activities so we can’t wait to make this year’s pumpkulents!

Become a gardener who can at our Carnivorous Garden workshop.

Based on information from the book “Savage Garden” by Peter D’Amato and the lived experience of gardeners, we will teach attendees how to grow these intimidating plants successfully. They can be grown as houseplants or in an outdoor bog garden. With the right light, water, and soil, these can be grown big enough to eat you out of house and home!

Included with cost of ticket: planter, peat moss, sphagnum moss, distilled water, and 3 2" carnivorous plants of your choice. 

Now offering free reservations! If you are interested in learning more about carnivorous plants, RSVP to sit-in just to hear the information! This option does not include materials.
